class: center, middle, inverse, title-slide # Lec10: Interactivity II ## Stat41: Data Viz ### Prof Amanda Luby ### Swarthmore College --- # Today: (1) A few more interactive graphics (10 + 5) (2) Final Project + End-of-term Logistics (5) (3) Q's from lab + video (??) --- # In your groups: ### Q1: How did interactivity **enhance** the graph? ### Q2: How did interactivity **detract** from the graph? --- class:center, middle, inverse # Jamboard Time --- # Final Project + I'm ~~almost~~ done grading Milestone02 -- + I've added a ["checklist and resources"](../Projects/final-checklist-resources.html) document on the website, which I'll continue to update. -- + Please ask clarifying Q's on the final-project slack channel (If you have the question, someone else probably does too!) -- + Rough Draft: > Does not need to be publication ready, and some sections can be "outline-style". If you plan to include interactivity, that does *not* need to be included in the rough draft, but you should have thought through your design. This milestone is more for you than for me -- the more you have finished, the more feedback I can give you, and the better idea you will have about what you need to do to reach your grade goals for this class. The draft does not need to be perfect, so focus on areas where it would be most helpful for you to get feedback. Try to have enough finished that I can see the story you're trying to tell. --- ### Pep Talk <!-- --> Source: https://personalexcellence.co/files/infographic-emotional-journey-of-creating-anything-great.png --- # A quick look ahead + Thurs 1/21: gganimate (class + lab) + Fri 1/22: scrollytelling discussion + demo in class; no lab + Sunday 1/24: rough drafts + project 3 due. + Monday 1/25: Last lab! + Wednesday 1/27: project work day; every project will have a 20 minute time slot with me + Thursday 1/28: Final Project Demo Day! + 5 30-minute slots scheduled between 11 and 2:30 + **strict** 5 minute limit on presentations + Everyone will present in one slot, have one slot as a break, and peer review in two slots. + Attendance expected *except* for your break slot + Thursday 1/28 at midnight: All missing work and re-submissions due + Thursday 1/28 at midnight: Final papers due (+3 day extension if needed) --- # Q's from lab + video This week is definitely heavy on the coding, and Shiny can be especially intimidating and hard to de-bug. If you have any questions about the lab from yesterday (plotly and flexdashboard) put them on sticky notes on the first page of the jamboard If you have any questions about Shiny from the video for class today, put them on sticky notes on the second page of the jamboard (If you don't have any questions + feel confident about Lab09 + 10, you are free to go!)
